Dense irregular connective tissue:
o Contains collagen and elastic fibres, randomly arranged with no consistent pattern
o Functions to protect and support organs where stress is applied from many
directions
o E.g. coverings of bone, deepest layers of skin
Dense regular connective tissue:
o Highly structured arrangement
o Fibres lie parallel to one another, aligned to resist stretching
o E.g. tendon and ligament
