Have glands that secrete hormones into the blood: nervous system. Uses chemical messengers (neurotransmitters) to communicate throughout the body. This is how neural cells communicate throughout the body. Is strongly interconnected with other areas of the brain. Types of chemical messages in the cns: neurotransmitters. Physical, mental and behavioral changes that follow a roughly. Biological rhythm that occurs on an annual basis. (e. g. Produce rapid excitatory or inhibitory responses in postsynaptic neurons. Excitatory neurotransmitters cause another action potential to be generated. Inhibitory neurotransmitters prevent another action potentials from occurring. Neurotransmitters are released from vesicles at the end of presynaptic neurons. This means it has multiple functions throughout the body. When glutamate binds to nmda receptors it causes excitation. Acts on at least 7 different receptors meaning it has lots of different functions. Not just involved in allergies, asthma, anaphylaxis etc.
