Exercise Prescription for Lower Limb Conditions
• Identify appropriate exercise dosage parameters to achieve: muscle hypertrophy; muscle
strength; muscle endurance; neuromuscular training, soft tissue flexibility; and, cardiovascular
endurance
• Describe selected preventative therapeutic exercise protocols
• Prescribe therapeutic exercises that are appropriate for early and late stage presentations of
selected common lower limb conditions
• Identify other health professionals that comprise the referral network and how they may
enhance patient outcomes
• Describe appropriate selected outcome measures that assess the effectiveness of selected
therapeutic exercise.
• Dose-response relationship
o Flexibility
• 2-3 x 30 sec hold
• 2-3 x per day
• Daily for 12 weeks
o Cardiovascular fitness
• 3 x 30min @ 70-85% VO2 max per week
• Maintenance prescription only
o Neuromuscular training
• Youth
