Improve parents" ability to manage future occupational performance challenges. Generalising provides the broad format of opc sessions & is similar to many problem-solving interventions. Tools for opc: emotional support: listen, empathise, reframe, guide, encourage. All of your counselling skills: information exchange. What have you already tried? : what ideally would happen. If there was a miracle and overnight the problem was solved, what would this look like? . What will it look like when you have reached this goal? . What will be different at home when ___ improves in his behaviour/attention/fine motor skills? : barriers and bridges. Can you describe what is different on these days? i. e. people, time of day, environment, routine. Does anything make it worse? : parents needs. What motivates them, their learning needs and expectations: structured process: set goal, explore options, plan options, carry out plan, check and generalise.
