HNN227 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Pulmonary Consolidation, Cough, Oxocarbon
Document Summary
Check for fever, pain, shivering, and damage to cells and tissues, check history and vital signs. Infection invades and multiple microorganisms in body tissues. Some microorganisms find ways to block body"s defence mechanism while as some immune systems are able to fight these microorganisms with white blood cells (neutrophils & monocytes) and anti-bodies. Some infection causes inflammations, which then a fever is developed to enhance the body"s defence mechanisms although it can cause discomfort. The hypothalamus controls the body"s temperature, further results the body to rise temperature to a high level by moving blood from the skin surface to the interior of the body that reduce in heal loss. Shivering may occur to increase heat production in muscle contraction. There will be impaired gas exchanged, increased work of breathing, sputum in lungs, chest pain and decreased in oxygen saturation, crackling hearing in lungs and some signs of cyanosis.
