Cardio vascular 1: cardiovascular system is an organ system consisting of heart and blood vessels that circulate blood and transport nutrients and minerals to the rest of body. It is also known as circulatory system or vascular system: the essential component of this system is heart, blood vessels and blood, there are three types of blood vessels- Arties type of blood vessels carry blood away from heart. Veins- type of blood vessels carry blood back to heart. Capillaries- type of blood vessels act as site of substance exchange between lungs and blood: heart: Fibrous pericardium- is tough, thick fibrous pericardium made of connective tissue. It main function is of protection and anchoring (keeping in place). Serous pericardium- smooth, thin has 2 layers: parietal, visceral (epicardium) (i. e. first layer of heart wall) There is space between parietal and visceral layer is pericardial cavity having small amount of serous fluid to reduce friction during cardiac contractions.
