Gametes are produced in the testis, stored in epididymis. Spermatid (haploid cell) needs to undergo differentiation to become a mature sperm. Nucleus of the sperm is in the head of the sperm. Head of sperm has acrosome to penetrate the egg. Then the differentiation stage leading to the sperm. 280 000 000 - 500 000 000 sperm/ejaculate. Only about 200 reach the position of the egg in the oviduct. Ejaculate is 2 - 6 ml average is 2. 75 ml (5ml = 1 teaspoon) The concentration of spermatozoa should be at least 20 million per ml. The total volume of semen should be at least 2 ml. The total number of spermatozoa in the ejaculate should be at least 40 million.
