Hand washing (chlorhexidine gluconate and povidone iodine solutions), pre-op skin disinfetion. Hydrogen peroxide (h2o2): short term action, broken to h2o + o2, 3% solution for wound disinfection. Organic disinfectant agents: alcohols (inc bactericidal potency methanol- propenol: need to contain water). K-permanganate (kmno4): oxidising agent w disinfectant, deodorising and astringent properties.
