Social psychology -> social interactions, cannot be by ourselves. Positive and negative attitudes is what social psychology studies (scientific studies, use emphirical method) We can have association with maximum 150 close people who we know and interact people closely. Evolutionary, adaptive, as a group, face danger together. We need to belong, it is instrumental for all human beings. Social neuroscience: brains, predisposed into making connections to become social. Social psychology is a must, interacting, physically with people. Performance increase in the presence of others (i. e play in home ground, have support of own crowd, perform better) If task easy, perf is good, if task difficult, perf deteriorate. Cyclist easy task will perform better, difficult task, make more mistake. We want company of others, we try to compare ourselves with people through upward/downward comparison. Upward: want to reach that place (benchmark), highly motivated, competitive people, want to be better, motivates them.
