Through adapting a scientific approach to these types of questions, psychology has been able to establish itself as a scientific field of inquiry. At its core is the study of research methods and statistics or research design and analysis (rda). The goal of psychologists can be summarised broadly as: using knowledge in clinical or research settings to aid the mental well-being of individuals and/or communities, and, continually adding to their knowledge of human behaviour (i. e. , making psychological discoveries). Knowledge of research design and analysis can be used in : human resources e. g. , part of your role is to evaluate annual employee satisfaction numbers. This year, satisfaction is down compared to last year. How would you determine whether this is a meaningful drop or within the expected year-to-year variation: marketing - e. g. , you try out three campaigns using different colours and layouts. One costs more than the other two and performs slightly better.
