Describe structured personality tests, such as the mmpi-2, and their methods of construction. Describe projective tests, particularly the rorschach, and their strengths and weaknesses. Personality assessment: measurement and evaluation of: psychological traits, states (difference between traits and states = state is temporary/short term, trait is long term, values. Interests: attitudes, worldview, acculturation, personal identity, sense of humour, cognitive behavioural styles, and/or related individual characteristics. Internal consistency: degree of correlation between items on a scale, the consistency of the items in measuring a single construct. Includes their conflicts, anxieties, defences, and preoccupations: two well known instruments are the rorschach (ink blot) and the thematic. Barnum effect: tendency of people to accept high base-rate descriptions that apply to almost everyone as accurate: demonstrates personal validation: the use of subjective judgements of accuracy which is a flawed method of evaluating a test"s validity.
