What is inductive and deductive reasoning: deductive reasoning (quantitative) is a logical process in which a conclusion is based on the concordance of multiple premises that are generally assumed to be true, sometimes referred to as top-down logic. Inductive reasoning (qualitative) is a logical process in which multiple premises, all believed true or found to be true most of the time, are combined to obtain a specific conclusion. What is social research: purposeful and systematic acquisition and presentation of information about social issues, aims to develop explanations about organisation and social life, not only about descriptions, capable of being critically analysed. Why do qualitative research: the research question requires it, the data demands the use of this method, e. g. new area, being investigated broadly.
