Health terminology: identify and define the meaning of a range of words in relation to health. State of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Resource for everyday life, not the objective of living . Health is a positive concept emphasising social and personal resources- as well as physical capacities . Australia"s health agencies: take broad view of health and functioning, (collect info, operations, measure health) Incorporating: both physical and mental dimensions, genetic, cultural, socioeconomic, environmental determinants. Health determinant: any factor that can influence health in a positive way (protective factor) increase the chances of ill health (risk factor) in a population or individual includes social and environmental factor and health behaviours. Include behaviours that are believed to cause: to be contributed factors to most accidents, injuries, disease, and death during youth and adolescence as well as significant morbidity and mortality in later life.
