Lecture 11: influencing healthcare and policy through epidemiological. Sometimes when we pay tax for research, it doesn"t translate or go straight to the research fund. It doesn"t answer why we want to answer these questions: how to use this evidence- to tailor programs to improve or change health in the population. Is wine healthy: a lot of work says that the antioxidants help with cardio logical function. __ much amount is safe: we do not know the true situation is, where we have done well, radiation exposure, exercise, obesity, air pollution, viral infections, asbestos. Ionizing radiation: alcohol and substance abuse and social economic factors. What we now see as obvious was once unknown prior to epidemiological research- hand washing was basic work done- the medical community laughed at it. It was 100 years before they admitted it.
