MGMT1135 Lecture Notes - Lecture 14: Information Processing Theory, The Problem Solvers, Hill Climbing
Document Summary
Lecture 14 creative problem solving and creativity. Information processing theory: a problem is a discrepancy between an initial state and a goal state, a problem exists. Information processing theory there"s a initial state and a goal setting i need to reach. Problem is that it is a shortcut and mostly doesn"t"t fix the problem. E. g. maybe catch the bus now: algorithms: a rule like procedure and tells you what to do. Two types of heuristics: hill climbing, always opt for a step that would move his or her higher, local considerations, means-end-analysis, takes into account the bigger picture. The creative problem solving model: exploring the challenge, people are supposed to identify, clarify and otherwise clearly define the problem to be confronted. Identify a broad goal: determine what is known and what still needs to be known, clarify or refine the way the problem is defined and specified.
