Progress through the stages is driven by specific processes (i. e. consciousness raising or counterconditioning) People may come across several challenges in each step. This model can be applied to any therapeutic approach. Their style of and approach to therapy defines everything! What are the problems the child is experiencing (i. e. social, personal, etc. ) These skills will tell the therapist the tools that will be useful for them. What are the expectations the child has about therapy, from the therapist, the setting, etc. Supporting the child through monitoring, communicating, reinforcing, etc. Parent and family functioning is related to: Midgley et al. (2016) study on teenager"s expectations from psychotherapy. Difficulty of imagining what will happen (unsure what to expect) Talking cure (believe that talking about the problems, issues, feelings will solve the problem)
