If you were sick who would you pray to: apollo (healing in general, juno & diana for women issues (childbirth and gynaecological problems, asclepius: god of medicine. Incubation: sleeping inside temple would give strange dreams that would be interpreted to find cure. Jupiter, juno, minerva were the capitoline triad got the best offerings and were asked for the most guidance. Syncretism led to an issue between roman identity and foreign beliefs. Augury: traced to the foundations of rome, maintained pax deorum very costly. Important to figure out what the gods really want: means watching the birds : looked at the flight patterns of birds and feeding patterns of chicken abnormalities, hauspex: literally gut gazer.
