At present, ncds cause more deaths than all other causes combined. Deaths are projected to increase from 38 million 2012 to 52 million by 2030. Oral cancer is huge in morbidity and mortality but not prevalence. ~1 in 2 canadians will develop cancer during his/her lifetime. Every 3 minutes every day, 1 person will be diagnosed with cancer. Some melanoma and leukemia can be caused by infection. Men: prostate, lung, colon and rectum. Women: breast, lung, colon and rectum. Often a complex mix b/w accumulated exposure to risk factors and genetic susceptibility.
