Each discipline has unique ways of dealing with cog sci. Use methods to discover new knowledge and gain new insight to the world. Subject matter: natural mind (human + animals), mental functioning, broadly interested in cognitive function, even erroneous. Methods: labs, stats, and computer cognitive modelling. Broad field of basic research in human internal mental processes. Focus on using what we know about mind to make better interfaces. Evolutionary history made our minds what they"re. Animal cognition, sometimes comparing it to human. Observe animal behaviour and do things to animals you can"t do to human beings. Looking at animals and using models as human psychology. Not enough model building instead complex theory -can"t play 20 questions and win. Dustbowl empiricism: not enough theory, no theoretical psychologists and limited value. Non-empirical discipline, does not use data from the world. You died because atoms ripped apart and create a brand new being. Take average happiness and compare highest, question effectiveness.
