2006 data: more aboriginal people 54% live in urban than in rural locations, 4% of canadian population in winnipeg. Aboriginal people are more likely to report living in crowded living conditions. 3x more likely to live in a home that requires major repairs. Nearly of the aboriginal population had reported not completing high school compared to nearly 1/3 of the non-aboriginal population. Just of 60% of aboriginal people between the ages of 25-54 were employed, compared with 81% of the non aboriginal group. Of those living off reserve, those with non registered status were more likely to be employed 71% than those with status at 64% 7% have uni degree, 20% of non-aboriginal. Shared experience of aboriginal people historically, culturally, socially, and economically as defined by relations with settlers. Intergenerational trauma poverty, family violence, poor health, substance abuse, over representation in justice system, victim of racism. Included industrial schools, boarding schools, home for students and schools with day students.
