Social cogniion: the examinaion of how we process our own social world, focusing on thoughts about friends and family. The idea that the mind is made of two separate systems. Rec: automaic: this is the quick system. It works outside of our own consciousness and requires litle efort. (ex: driving, cooking, cleaning: deliberate: this is the thorough system. It prefers complex operaions within the awareness of the thinker. A violaion of expectancies sparks deliberate thinking (ex: driving in a snow storm, cooking a new recipe. ) Stroop test: paricipant is presented with a name of a colour writen in a colour other then the word listed. They are asked to name the colour the text is writen in. The knowledge structure of how people/objects in certain situaions. Scripts include the process of going to a restaurant or a movie. The process of which we acivate speciic schemas. Schema"s allow informaion to be more accessible to them.
