Hidden curriculum: aspects of the school environment that convey messages to you as students about culturally valued ways of thinking & behaving (e. g. teaching pedagogy, attitudes of peers, etc. ) Other functions daycare, dating pool, crossover of social groups, etc. Ability grouping): a process by which students are sorted into distinct instructional groups based on past academic performance, performance on standardized tests, or even anticipated performance. Placement: disproportionate representation of poor & marginalized students in the lower tracks. Treatment: clear differences in quality, content, and quantity of instruction. Self-image: lower track students publicly identified & treated as educational discards or even as unteachable.
