Group dynamics depending on size of the group. Large number of people in a small place with exaggerated individualism. Group/collective has characteristics/ properties that are more than the sum of individuals (related to durkheim) Exclusion" won"t happen in a dyad, but is possible in a triad. Two against one dynamics/ majority opinion v. s negotiation. Primary: typically more intimate, smaller, long term (family) Secondary groups: more instrumental and task specific (workplace, sports team) Aggregate/ crowd: same time and place but no interaction or shared identity or characteristics. Category- collection of individuals who are assumed to have shared characteristics but not a shared identity. Millennial" as a category- all born within the same bracket. Group/ community: frequency of interaction and a sense of identity/ connection with the group. Social media/ online participation has changed social interactions. More possibilities for fleeting/ ephemeral group moments. Ex. protest, people using twitter to share their opinions. Lack of face to face interaction - people change personality.
