Canada"s food guide a combination of the education system & authoritative discourses working together to socialize individuals into healthy eating patterns. Conclusion: socialization & food is a process that takes place over the life-course, central to shaping our individual & collective identities, food & identity practices, you are what you eat on an individual & collective eat. Rozin: psychobiology: concern with explaining why humans eat some foods & not others from a psychobiological perspective, interaction of biology, psychology & culture. Rozin: omnivores dilemma: humans, as omnivores, are able to eat a wide variety of foods, omnivores dilemma, concern w discovering new sources of food (search/need for variety, concern or fear that new foods may be harmful or poisonous. Fischler: food & identity: food & identity have a dual role, shape individual identities, shape collective identities (inclusion & exclusion, adopts a position between structuralism & developmental approaches. Interested in how identity is shaped by both human biology & culture.
