The disciples, or apostles, of christ were the cornerstones of his church. In revelation 21:14 we are told that the twelve foundations of the wall of the new jerusalem will have the names of the twelve disciples (or apostles) inscribed on them. It is evident, in this way, that our lord attaches great importance to these men. As we study these courageous first-century lives, and what discipleship meant in the time of christ, we can expect help in developing spirit-led twentieth-century discipleship as christ must have meant it would be. The following information is based on what is told of these 12 men in the new testament, along with the most respected legends and traditions.
