Sympathetic ganglia = form interconnected chains on either side of spinal cord. * nerves= bundles of long myelinated axons in pns. All refer to bundles of long myelinated axons that convey signals from 1 part. Peduncle/projection of nervous system to another in cns. *tract names = usually where start & where end ex: spino-thalamic. Large neurons with long axons that contribute to fiber tracts. Ex: from toe to brainstem/brainstem to thalamus/thalamus to cerebral cortex. Neurons with short axons & connect other neurons within functionally. Localized regions = connect projection neurons together ex: nucleus. *mid-sagittal = separate 2 halve in middle of brain. *spinal cord enter skull at foramen magnum & form brainstem = medulla pons midbrain. Mpm from anterior to posterior & interior to superior. Medulla below/inferior & posterior to pons [midbrain hidden] Important structures of brainstem 4th ventricle/cerebral aqueduct /superior & inferior colliculi /pineal gland. 4th ventricle = above brainstem & below cerebellum.
