Perfect example of wheatley"s city as a cosmograms in three ways: royal city. Cuzco is the home of kings and their family groups and especially associated with manco. Closely associated with the sun god inti because the kings are direct descendants of him. Not a major economic or demographic centre. Population relatively small in comparison to other great civilizations because it was mainly limited to royals and elites. Built in the shape of a puma. Only people of royal status (10 official lineages) were allowed to live in space between two rivers which was the centre of the puma. Noble families lived in cuzco but outside of the body of the puma. Only commoners that lived there were servants or retainers of noble houses. Located between two important rivers: huatanay and tullumayo. Camay: animating force associated with flowing water. Tinku: meeting point of two opposed things; tension and reconciliation. Intimate union in a sexual sense reproductive fertility.
