Document Summary

Students will learn to recognize, describe and differentiate between the clinical manifestations of common rheumatic conditions. Arthritis most commonly affects adults over 40 (false) Can globally divide it up into 2 main categories: On top of smooth bony articular surface there is a nice cushioning of cartilage. Ligaments and the capsule surrounding ligaments are nice and taut. Osteoarthritis not really an in ammatory condition even though ppl might have swelling bc of localized changes in the tissue: cartilage wears away resulting in pain, stiffness swelling and in severe cases bone-on-bone movement in the affected joint. Inflammation is not always present or is secondary to joint damage (except in rare cases of inflammatory oa): mostly affects weight bearing joints. Canadians open. i. nlm. nih. gov very narrow joint space (bone on bone- no cartilage at all). Appreciate that the bone is a bit washed out as well.
