Needs of situation and community - why a story was remembered in a certain way or deemed important. Strategic, creative anchoring - stress the importance of jesus by anchoring him to say the story of moses liberating the people. Old testament (hebrew bible) is mostly hebrew, new testament is mostly greek. Apocrypha - didn"t make it into all bibles. Books became an identity thing for the jews, during their exile that was the only was for them to know about their culture. The law and the prophets - the jewish scriptures, how to find out what god wants them to do. This story is about men wanting to dominate other men and reduce them to the level of women which was seen as something bad. This was regarded as homosexuality in the bible which has been interpreted in todays society as homosexuality being bad. Matthew luke -> q (what both matthew and luke share perfectly)
