Evidence-based medicine: what we need in order to decide on any procedure (e. g. certain type of drug, surgery, physiotherapy) We need to know that the drug works in order to prescribe it to a patient. How does it compare to what is already available: need to answer these questions to get drugs approved by government agencies. You need to perform a risk/benefit analysis. We are gearing towards personalized therapy where individuals will be tested to see what drugs work best for them: antibodies, cytokines, cells. Diseases of the heart is almost as large as cancer in the developed world: diabetes, respiratory diseases, ad, are also killers today. Clinical trials initiated: biggest ones are for treating cancer because it is a major killer, however, the nervous system also targeted because there are a lot of different problems (chronic situations, muscular/skeletal problems) It is the drug companies that bring the drug from the lab to the patient (market)
