Anthropologists tend to have a focus in one branch of anthropology -> no one is an expert in all four branches, but many do interdisciplinary research that crosses over the subields. Studies all aspects of the biology and behaviour of the human species (and closest relaives) in the past and present. Study of past socieies and their cultures using material remains (ex. tools, ceramics, sites), diferent types of archaeologists: classical, historical, prehistoric. Study of contemporary cultures and socieies, studied through paricipant observaion -> provide an ethnography : a descripion of an aspect of culture within a society. Modern cultural anthropology is vast: can be seen in local, regional or global seings. Studies the construcion and use of language by human socieies (eg. dr. john calarusso) Structural linguisics: how language works => grammaical paterns, language and thought paterns.
