Ethnicity identification with and feeling part of an ethnic group. Identity based on combination of social and biological characteristics. Ethnic groups members share certain beliefs, values, customs, and norms because of common background. Markers may include collective name, ancestry, language, religion, and attachment to territory. Race culturally constructed categorization of people into groups based on physical characteristics. The concept of race can be thought of as ethnic labeling based on perceived physical traits, rather than upon cultural features. Races, as discrete biological categories, do not exist. Race is a concept created by society, not a scientific fact. Classifications based on phenotype (evident traits) not genotype raise the problem of deciding which trait(s) should be primary. Most (85-94%) of our genetic variation is found within populations rather than between them. The greatest genetic diversity is among the people who live in africa today. Many populations do not fit neatly within the 5 great races :
