Shown as fierce, w short cropped beard and hair, furrowed brow, energetic chin, strong expression around deep set eyes- shadows around carved eyes. Rule of four- 2 augustus, 2 caesars below them. Older ones had beards, younger did not. Complex military garb, cap of magistrate, unspecific facial features. Exaggerated features- larger staring eyes, no bone structure (plain surface for face), stylized beard, individuals are unknown. Material used- porphyry (purple), special stone from egypt, reserved for rulers, purple= iconography of rulers and privilege. Exterior of audience hall of constantius chlorus- 6-64. None of the tetrarchs were base in rome anymore- this one built this basilica in. Basilica was for public uses- ex. holding court of law. 2 stories of windows, buttresses (?) support the weight. Looks longer bc the windows at the far end are slightly smaller than the ones on.
