The rst is given by lysias, the other two by socrates. Returning and repeating the same material again each time, nding a new meaning. Like we are cycling back to plato. Phaedrus is in an unusual setting - the only platonic dialogue where socrates appears outside the city walls of athens. Separation of the natural world from the civilized and organized world (ex. Must mean something if socrates is outside the walls. Phaedrus has heard a speech from lysias (a real sophist) - a classic example of a sophist exercise in showing argumentation skills (showing that black is white, being in love is terrible). Phaedrus thinks this speech is amazing - phaedrus is a bit of a strepsiades. He has fallen under the sway of cleverness and tries to mimic lysias. Tries to memorize the speech, but he can"t - socrates sees he has a copy, makes him read it instead. Rambling - small moment of cleverness, but no organization.
