As stars evolve, they move from the main sequence to the giant branch. 1965: a new element to the story comes up, more or less accidentally: Detectable on a blank tv channel, source of some of the (cid:1)snow(cid:2) Most of physics consists of things that can be measured and tested in lab experiments (even things like relativistic time dilation and quantum mechanical effects).
