Why are the sexes so different? bc males are generally limited by mate acquisition. Intra-sexual selection: 2 males ghting over females. Males of most species are generally indiscriminate (will literally try to breed with anything lol) Inter-sexual selection: females will choose their mate (peacock) In most species females are limited by egg production, and males are limited by mate acquisition. Parental investment: investment that increases offspring survival at a cost to the parents ability to invest in other young. Female reproductive success limited by ability to raise offspring > males reproductive success limited by access to fertilizable eggs. Sexual selection is usually acts more strong on males (more male to male competition and ornamentation (female choice))
