Delphi had games but the site of delphi itself gave a very particular importance. Omphalos = navel of the earth (the bellybutton of delphi) God apollo slew dragon (python) who guarded the omphalos. There was a myth attached to it about apollo killing the python. Priestess = pythia the name of pythia, she was the priestess attached from the temple to be a blameless girl. She would sit on a tripod (3 legged structure) which was placed on top of the crevice in the earth where she would burn old leaves. People would ask her questions and she would give them a prophesies. The god of apollo was speaking through the priestess. One of the main reasons why delphi was such a special site because apollo was speaking to her through this priestess. The answer was always answered with a riddle or something hard to understand.
