Heroes- not necessarily good people, men who lived in mythological past. Says she cannot make any decisions about marriage until she finishes. She weaves it during the day and unravels it at night. Telemachus is treated with disdain by the suitors. Part of the reason athena pushes him to find his father. He goes to pylos (nestor) and sparta (menelaus) to find information about his father. Pylos and sparta represent what ithaca could be like if odysseus was there. From nestor he learns of the death of agamemnon. Arrival in sparta during hermione"s wedding to neoptolemus. Menelaus" nostos (lists places he visited on the way back from troy) Menelaus mentions that odysseus without knowing who telemachus is. Helen enters (compared to artemis) and recognises telemachus, and drugs their drinks. Helen then suggests that they tell stories. She tells the story of how odysseus snuck into troy as a beggar, with her help.
