Odyssey notes: odyssey and his nostos (epic story of hero returning home by sea. , heroes, not regular heroes , these hero"s doesn"t always mean they are good people or make good choices. Influence on western literature: continues to influence stories today. Anything that has features of homecoming, science fiction e. t. c: some background (books 2 & 3, penelope"s tricks, telemachus & his journey: pylos and sparta, he is treated like a boy, but is now a man. His journey will allow him to grow up and be around great men. Athena"s plan: pylos and sparta show what a great kingdom should be like, nestor nothing that looks like ithica, tells of agamemnon"s death. As they resume their meal she spikes drinks that erases all pain and sorrow for those who drink: she tells the story of odysseus and how he disguised as a beggar. She recognised him and assisted him kill the trojans: menelaus tells of the trojan horse story.
