Iliad 22- achilles is back, fully, excessively: all gods are back too, achilles he is out of control. Hector"s parents plead with him to enter troy: priam makes a personal appeal to hector, hector is unmoved. Lives by heroic code: he is trapped by his former choices. As achilles approaches, hector flees: fear overwhelms hector, shows humanity. Images of runners and horses, connected with an epithet: gods as spectators, trojan landscape in times of peace, horse-taming hector becomes the horse when running, swift footed achilles finally is shown when he chases hector. Zeus weighs the fates: takes out a scale out and places two deaths on each side, hector"s was heavier. Athena helps achilles: tells achilles that he will win, disguised as deiphobus. Approaches hector and tells him he has an ally: hector"s courage in achilles" armour, achilles finds a weak spot, hector"s soul flees. Achilles" cruelty: pierces hectors ankles and drags him behind his chariot to his hut.
