Television is radio with pictures dispersed serial narratives, combining sound, pictures, and text, on screen interfaces . Dispersed distribution: diverse programs and audience practices, less homogenized programming, more producers/networks. Seriality: popular in history of many media, episodic seriality vs. long form seriality. Long form seriality is good to keep people watching repeatedly or binge watching. Tv is: helps form regular, consistent audiences, over time, helps create brand identity. There"s something about netflix shows, or hbo shows: organizes expectations. Sound: new central role in tv, especially with various platforms/devices, music: huge feature, music and visuals highly related, long-form sound programs (podcasts) Television system of reruns as museum or archive disrupts easy historical placement as past and present intertwine.
