Chapter 12 sexuality across the life span and sexual health education. Socialization and sexuality: socialized sexual practices that are age appropriate, sexual practices that are deemed acceptable and/or unacceptable, behaviour is socialized so sexuality is a part of socialization, cradle to grave. Engaging in risky behaviours involving sex and sexuality: early adulthood, middle adulthood. Sexuality and sexual behaviours that are risky. Infancy (birth 2 years: fetuses, babies and children exhibit sexual responses, but we do not know what the responses mean to them, unlike adults. Lubrication: masturbation is also quite typical. It is acceptable; parents should teach them proper names for genitals but not encourage it public; response can deter child from masturbating in public areas (conditioning) I"ll show you mine if you"ll show me yours. : difficult to conduct research regarding masturbation as parents may not discuss sexual conduct, children"s reactions are largely based on culture and mandatory sex education programs.
