95% of the fresh water on earth. 4% of all water is fresh water. And small amount is in the air or atmosphere. Canada depends on lake water, ontario is huge part of population. Some places depend 100% on ground water like kitchener. Pei is virtually exclusive on ground water because its surrounded by the ocean(its salty) and because the lakes and rivers are too small and its not enough surface water to depend on. Yukon is very dependent on ground water and not surface water because yukon has a seasonality. A huge amount of water was being wasted on the pipes because of the streams you have may be huge or small or frozen over. There is water in both the unsaturated and saturated zone. The water will find its way in the pore space. Forms like a film in the unsaturated sediment. You can air or water or both.
