Historically-> no, because they didn"t think they could objectify a person, He uses paradox-> (cid:498)black should not be sparkling(cid:499) Love is not logical and it does terrible things to your brain. Her eyes are black couldn"t look at them. But it is not like a novel where every moment of a sequence is filled out. The poem is glimpses of moments: nature is showing how incredibly beautiful black can be, he talks to the moon like a friend about how he is trying to understand what to do.
