Document Summary
Geographic tools: the map social and cultural interpretations. Maps are two-dimensional graphical representations of the world, and depict spatial relationships. Maps are an important tool in the analysis of the spatial information. They are 2d representations of the world (or some subset of the world) Of those two components the graphical rep is about communicating information specific spatial representations depicts: town, cities, boundaries, property border, etc. Map for our classroom will include the seats, empty seat, people with laptop, and check to see if there"s a pattern/cluster. Maps make some sense of spatial distribution. Maps are socially constructed": maps reflect the power of the people that draw them, read maps with a critical eye. Maps are constructed by individuals/company/organization for a particular purpose. Socially constructed - not the entire truth but what the drawer thinks. So they make choices of what to include/exclude on the map. The drawer of the map has some power because they get to choose.
