Population geography: the study of the spatial components of demography. There may be a population plateau at around 10 million people. Keys: food production, labour specialization, permanent settlement= population growth. Instead of being nomadic, farmers have settlement: 4m-250m> this was the achievement that lead to population growth. Epidemics : "two steps forward, one step backwards: large epidemic like black death, can wipe out populations. Keys: food production, standard living, declining death rates prior to changes in birth rates= population growth. People live better, eat better leading to declining death rates. The population has been growing since 1800"s.
