Three themes : humans and land , regionalization , and spatial analysis. It is the ever changing product of the activities of human beings , as individuals and as group members, working within human and institutional frameworks to modify pre existing physical conditions. Human world as landscape (characteristics of particular area through human activity) ( landscape alas symbolic meaning) Interested in landscape for both for what it is and for what it means to live in it. Divide large areas into small areas : sharing one or more features in common. Groups of people make regions : social organization of space. Regions on a wide scale : from a local suburban neighbourhood to the globe. Location : why things are where they are. Tackles question through theory construction, models, and hypothesis testing using quantitative methods. Two types of spacial organization :regions& the identi cation of distinct patterns of location.
