Tolerance enshrined: religious minorities have a right to practice their own religion. Sovereignty: a state has the right to decide upon what goes on within its own borders. This can be read, in theory, as a human rights document. Columbian era of huge empires that really only ended 50 years ago. Within european countries, we see new people becoming influential. Previously the most influential people would be members of the church of landowners. Wealthy people who own ships have set up trading empires. People funded by the monarchy, but independent, can now do things like buy massive areas of la(cid:374)d, fo(cid:396) e(cid:454)a(cid:373)ple, the hudso(cid:374)"s ba(cid:455) co(cid:373)pa(cid:374)(cid:455) Members of such companies gained wealth independent of the government.
