Time machines: two forms: 1) any artistic or technological product or cultural invent that socializes children and adults into the meaning of time passing. September 15th 2016: 2) can be visual image or a story-line about how a person"s life is supposed to unfold, our age narratives become our virtual realities (gullette, 2004:9) Progressive narrative: a) a cultural story or image that teaches people what their lives and bodies will be like in the future, b) a story about aging that emphasizes survival, resilience, and adjustment to aging. Decline narrative: suggests that aging is about decline or disease (or any of the d"s of aging) Education as an anti-dote to ageism: attitudes about aging improve when, younger adults have positive interactions with older adults, younger adults receive factual information about older people highlighting the realities and benefits of aging.
