Line between physical and mental not as clear as dualists would assume: hr, respiration, nervous system may all reflect mental phenomena i. e. cause, experience, symptom expression. Cause - various physical causes of mental illness and mental health (i. e. traumatic head injury, size of brain, gut bacteria) Experience pain is not simple to measure, pain often associated with mental illnesses (i. e. panic attack: depression in terms of physical (sematic) experience back pain, stomach problems, headaches. Treatment is often physical for mental illness psychopharmaceutical medication, insulin coma therapies, malaria treatment to combat schizophrenia. Whe(cid:374) (cid:449)e sa(cid:455) (cid:862)(cid:373)e(cid:374)tal health(cid:863), (cid:449)e"(cid:396)e (cid:396)efe(cid:396)(cid:396)i(cid:374)g to feelings, thoughts, cognition and self-concept: how a person experiences it. Minimalist: absence of mental disorders: creates a binary either mentally ill, or mentally healthy. Broader considerations: the ability to get on in every day life. Thus, mental health is not entirely personal linked to others. We must consider mental health in a social context.
